He did say his videos would always be free and technically speaking, they are. But it is hugely implied that if you enjoy his videos, you should support the work.

Hmmm sounds like the literature arrangement made many years ago when a certain religious organisation was put on notice they would be taxed if they sold literature. My dad was a "ghost-donator", going to the box and folding the low denomination bills so they couldn't be identified.

What I see is a "Band-Aid" style fix for a much bigger problem. You mean to tell me Live-Aid did not solve poverty and famine in Africa!?! Bob Geldof actually got Phil Collins to fly on the Concorde from London to Philadelphia so he could play with the reformed Led Zeppelin after his set in London ended. He didn't know the parts and was ill-suited to fill-in for a drummer like John Bonham.

Lloyd is a poor man's Geldof, a total cunt with these grand ideas that failed to address the root problem. He'd meet all these Third World leaders and then spend the night in the local Hilton. Lloyd still can't bring himself to apologise, and it's too late for that anyway. So, he's adding these silly perks like a GB member emoji as if we're all kids who need our toys. He doesn't want to re-tool his content and vision, so you're going to see a lot more of these dimestore gimmicks as his Patrons drip away.

Absolutely. When he left this forum he was a very polarising figure somewhat like he is today. Kind of a whiny little bitch who made quality videos. His wife was a huge mystery and it was clear she didn’t want to go public as he did.

Then their first child was born and his family man myth was born. There was a virtual baby shower and they had a tonne of gifts, both baby supplies and money sent to them from all over the world. He quickly picked up on this and started bringing his wife and child along with him for no real reason other than it made people more interested in him and his work. He also was quick to use them as a shield when things like the COC copyright scandal came to light. “You have no idea how much this is upsetting my wife! I may have to quit activism if this abuse doesn’t stop!”

Like the true dumbfuck that he is, he set his biggest asset on fire, borne out of a puerile middle aged tantrum based on the fact that his only sexual experiences outside of his wife involved an exchange of money. The “Dijana In Her Own Words” and the handful of other videos she appeared in all had impressive stats. He shit all over that and was counting on his wife to do what she had always done and STFU.

Look at what remains. A man in his 40s with no job prospects outside his Patreon business model with an estranged wife he publicly humiliated and two girls who live without their father because of his actions. He’s become a pitiful figure and it’s now a charitable act on your part to publicly meet with him and allow him to post selfies.

Are his current patreons notified of the increase in monthly pledges and are they given the opportunity to opt out prior to being charged for the next instalment

Unless I am reading this wrong the tiers are mostly the same, $1, $5, $10, $25 a month, with the new $50 a month one added. He just changed the names. I would imagine if you were pledging $1 before, it would just transfer into the new $1 tier.

If Patreon defaults you into a new tier that costs more, that’s an unsavory business practice to say the least.

I think the big news here is he’s creating a top $50 tier and trying to entice current Patrons to subscribe to that. He’s largely thrown in the towel on getting any significant Patrons back and is trying to maneuver his current supporters into paying more.

It wouldn’t surprise me in the least that another filing in his lawsuit will occur soon. They tend to immediately follow news like this. This is also the time of year he goes on holiday and with this last Patron drop he’s panicking about his business model.

Enjoy the winter in Zagreb, Lloyd. Keep up on inviting Instagram models out for coffee. An overweight 43 year old man with a Muppet nose who’s also still married with two kids to support on a shrinking salary has to stand a chance, right?

When you're bleeding Patrons every month, the last thing you want to do is add a tier double that of the previous high. Maybe a handful of $25 a month people fall for it, but the optics are bad for possibly $100-$200 more a month. He already has a well-earned reputation for being highly concerned with how much he is paid, and this doesn't help that. When he says he is "improving engagement" and making it more "sustainable", and the only obvious thing he did was make a newer and expensive tier, it only explains the "sustainability" part. He's trying to do more with less Patrons. He's finally understanding that he's not getting these Patrons back and he needs to guilt his remaining supporters into giving more.

He's the ship's purser on the Titanic. As the ship is listing badly and taking on water, Lloyd's knocking on the doors of steerage passengers and trying to upgrade them to the newly vacated state rooms.

Interviews are easy to conduct and they don't involve him watching a JWB episode to take notes. He probably has a boilerplate interview template where he asks general questions designed to engage the interviewee for lengthy sequences.

The fact he needs to ask on social media for former subjects he had previously rejected reveals he's scraping the bottom of the barrel. It's like that last Van Halen album no one asked for that saw them digging up old cuts from the 70s and having David Lee Roth sing over them.

I think he sees the 399 Patrons without his usual bump of 5-10 and is finally recognising he has a huge problem that isn't going to correct itself.

Did he ever.

One of his first posts here he came up with the idea for the survey. People were supportive of him and wished him well. So he pays €400 to SurveyMonkey and comes back here with his hand out, thinking encouragement meant the same people should reimburse him. A mod shut him down and it made a lasting impression. So much so that when he wrote his book 5-6 years later he recounted nearly every detail of that exchange, making the point that exJWs seem to oppose him more than the WT.

His acquaintance with Patrick Haeck was described in the book and it revealed a bit about how he goes about getting free shit. Haeck and his extended family planned a trip to the Croatian coast and he invited Lloyd and wife to meet up. He then relates how they were nearly broke but showed up anyway. Not only did Haeck insist they stay in one of their rooms, he booted out his son and girlfriend from theirs and had them sleep on the sofa so Lloyd and Dijana could have their own room to themselves.

What Haeck did was kind and generous. But what Lloyd did was intentionally impose himself and his wife on people he only knew online. If you’re broke, you kindly decline the invitation and instead invite them to your home afterward. Haeck made his way to their home anyway and Lloyd stood by as he built his daughter’s room and left him expensive tools to keep.

He relayed all this as some sort of tribute to Haeck, but it was clear he was all too willing to get a free holiday and his apartment finished at someone else’s expense.

He later dressed as some sort of monk in sandals and allowed Haeck to pay for his now family of three’s trip to Belgium so he could officiate his son’s wedding (in English of course).

The precedent was set. If you wanted Lloyd and family at an event, you pick up the tab.

It's like everything else on his Patreon goals page - utter nonsense and pure illusion.

Here's what he promised for 220 Patrons:

He hasn't made one documentary yet this year and he has 182 more Patrons than this goal. Fraud.

The TED Talk is contained within the promise of 380 Patrons:

No TED Talk, no meet-ups, no tours and no documentaries in foreign lands. Why even bother? His Patreon goals remind me of an age-old retail trick of doubling the existing price and then promising the customer a 50% off sale.

It's all sales and the bottom line. He doesn't really give a fuck anymore about fulfilling promises because his Patronage has been falling since January and he's not giving you shit until you put out some more. (I think he might have used that same tactic and wording with his "dates" in Pa Tong)
